Tenerife

Mount Teide TenerifeTenerife is the largest of the seven Canary Islands belonging to Spain and an ideal place to holiday or live. The volcanic nature of the island means that it has few natural beaches. Those that exist are usually made up of black sand from the island’s volcanic rock foundations. Tourist demands for sun-bathing beaches have led to the creation of resorts with man-made beaches having golden sand.

South of Tenerife offers more sunshine hours than the North of the island and is therefore a more popular choice with tourists.

The Canary Island of Tenerife is the perfect year round destination and is known as the island of eternal Spring! The average temperatures fall between 17º – 24º making it a clement destination all year round.  Tenerife has a variety of micro-climatic weather area which enables people to decide on the climate that most suits them depending on where they live. The trade winds and Gulf air currents are the major weather factors to the complex Tenerife weather.

Mount Teide’s altitude means that is covered three months of the year in snow which is a stark contrast to the beaches lined with sunbathers less than an hour’s ride away!. The coastal areas enjoy the most sunshine and the fresh Trade Winds keep the temperatures to an acceptably comfortable level.
There are thirty one municipalities there are in the island. The most important are Adeje, Arona, Candelaria, La Guancha, Guía de Isora, La Orotava, Puerto de la Cruz, San Cristóbal de La Laguna, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Santiago de Teide.
