Situated on the North East of the island
Haria has
much to offer the keen photographer and sightseers.
Haria is the capitol of the Municipality of the
same name.
Known locally as the valley of 1000 Palms probably
due to the fact that a Palm is planted for every girl born and two
for every boy within the Municipality.
In the town centre there is a charming square,
Leon Y Castillo, surrounded by some
equally charming local restaurants.
On a Saturdays the local craft market is
held in the square selling cheese,
local produce and various crafts.
Caesar Manrique returned to Haria
and is buried in the local cemetery.

Haria has its very own miniature museum
where you can view the world’s smallest
newspaper amongst other things.
Open from 10.00 – 18.00
The Water Tank Art Gallery located
opposite the main square and situated
below ground in a disused Alijbe (Water Tank).

La Garita Beach at Arrieta flies a Blue Flag
and is a firm favourite with the locals so it
will be busy during the weekends.
It is a clean and safe environment for beginers
at surfing.
Showers and a childrens playground help
to make this a nice destination for a day
out at the beach.
Largely an unspoilt fishing villiage so the
restaurants are unsurpassed for their fresh fish dishes.

Look out for the Blue House a quite extraordinary
building which seems very out of place on Lanzarote.
Restaurant Amanacer on the one way circuit is hugely recommended
but get there early for a table outside on the terrace!

Drive along the coast passed the Jameos
del Agua (See
Attractions)
and the Cueva de los Verdes (See Attractions)
and you will see many small sandy coves
which are popular with locals
and tourists who actually know they are there.
Children especially love it these coves and small beaches
as they are safe and filled with rock pools and
sea life to explore.(Take a net to keep them amused all day).
The best by far is the Caleton Blanca beach
which is down a dirt track with a make
shift
car park but well worth the drive as there is a small
lagoon which is safe and perfect for the children to play
in.
Once at Orzola you will not be spoilt for choice
in fine fish restaurants which are mostly found along the road down
to the harbor. The harbor is a haven for fishing but also host to
the Lineas Romero ferry which departs for La Graciosa which also comes under the Haria banner.

This small island was declared a
nature reserve in
1986.
It hosts some fabulous deserted beaches,
fantastic walks amongst some spectacular
scenery and old volcano called Montana Berjema.
The only transport provided are the bikes which
you can hire and it is fairly easy going even
for the less fit amongst us.
It is only two square miles and has around 650 inhabitants,
a church, a school, a small sports stadium, lots of bars and restaurants
and one taxi!
A wonderfully peaceful day out.

the
surrounding area from its large circular
