Gran Canaria’s nightlife is a busy affair and it caters well to its tourist population with plenty of bars and nightclubs as well as a huge selection of restaurants to choose from. Venues stay open late, with most bars closing around 2am and nightclubs anytime around 5am. The island’s capital city of Las Palmas has a thriving night scene and sees as many locals as visitors packing the venues while Puerto Rico and Maspalomas are equally busy with venues aimed at tourists including themed bars such as English and German establishments as well as a variety of dance clubs. Beer prices are cheap and spirit portions are generous and wine is a very affordable way to get a little merry. For those looking to spend some money there are Casinos in Las Palmas many of which belong to the big hotels.
Gran Canaria cultural entertainment scene tends to be based around a variety of events in its festival calendar as opposed to featuring specific venues with ongoing musical or theatrical schedules. Annual events involving opera, jazz, cinema, theatre and dance all feature in the calendar as well as a highly popular classical music event in the wintertime. Many of the big hotels and apartment complexes have live entertainment in the evenings featuring Spanish dancing and local musical acts.
A group of more than 40 volunteers will be in charge of showing visitors the different areas of the Teatro, not only the areas corresponding to the historical patrimony building but also the administrative building newly inaugurated in 2007. For the first time, the visitors will have access to the stage, the rehearsal areas and the changing rooms, to name but a few areas. The visits do not require prior appointment. At the moment it is being considered to carry out three tours between the hours of 10:00 and 13:00 (Monday to Saturday), lasting approximately 40 minutes. It is likewise possible to carry out the tours in the afternoon, on prior appointment with the Press Office (phone 928 433 805, or by email prensa@teatroperezgaldos.es). The tickets can be purchased at the Teatro shop, costing 5 Euros per person. In the case of group visits, the price is 3 Euros per person.

Black & White Show- Gran Canaria
The venue for the show is the new Gran Casino Costa Meloneras in the more exclusive end of Maspalomas. People arrive around 9:30pm to take their seats and enjoy a cocktail or two (remember that all drinks are included in the entrance price, nothing extra to pay at the bar). At 10pm the show starts and last for around a couple of hours. Attentive waiters are always checking tables in case you need more drinks throughout the show. Most of the show is based around Spanish Flamenco which for us was perfect as that's something the south of the island is short of if not missing altogether. The dancers and routines were stunning and the lighting breathtaking, we all left very impressed with the performance. The flamenco dancers have a couple of breaks where other performers entertain, a juggler and a ventriloquist. Afterwards, guests are invited to a cocktail in the adjacent Casino. All are welcome to enjoy their drink, have a look at the Casino and leave though certainly the idea is to tempt you to have a bit of a flutter. If you go to the Casino afterwards, be sure to take your passport/identification card.
