Fuerteventura Town Maps

This section has the main resort town centre maps

Corralejo

The town and resort of Corralejo is located on the northern tip of Fuerteventura one of the Canary Islands facing the small islet of Lobos. It is placed in the municipality of La Oliva and is the landing port for the cross island ferries from Lanzarote.

Corralejo is the largest holiday resort on the island. At its centre Corralejo remains a traditional fishing village however, there are many new buildings behind and a reasonable shopping centre.  Along the waterfront there is a promenade that is lined with cafes and restaurants and the town is host to a large water park.

The beaches in Corralejo are the resorts major attraction. The area has 7 miles of fine sand starting 2 miles outside  Corralejo along with some smaller bays along the coast. In addition, there are several miles of sand dunes located nearby which have been designated as a nature reserve. The waters around Corralejo are clear and an intense shade of blue but are affected by strong currents. The town’s beaches are somewhat more sheltered and have a band of volcanic rock along the shoreline.

Caleta De Fuste

Caleta de Fuste  is the largest community in the municipality of Antigua and is host to a variety of tourists and has numerous hotels, shops, boutiques, bars, cafes, and restaurants on or near the beaches. The area is centered on a castle in the main harbour.  Local recreation includes sailing, diving, windsurfing, scuba exploration, and simple beach enjoying. The ocean waters in the area are known for their dolphin and turtle populations. A weekly trade fair is known for having some of the best deals on leather goods anywhere. Nearby to Caleta de Fueste / Costa Caleta is the Championship golf course one of two at Fuerteventura and home to the Spanish Open in 2004. The second golf course is right next to the first, finished in 2007.

Hundreds of yachts from around the world compete around Antigua each year. Sport Fishing is also a very popular sport with several big competitions held yearly. Windsurfing was very popular until kite surfing came to the island with a big splash. Kite surfing or kite boarding is very popular at Jabbawock Beach.

Betancuria has the smallest population. The Mirador bewtween Betancuria and Antigua is fantastic and well worth the trip. The village of Betancuria is absolutely gorgeous. A wonderful church dominates this fantastic village. A sightseers dream.

The harbour where the boats are to be found is actually relatively new and the old harbour is only a short walk  over the headland which separates the two. There are several bars and restaurants close to the old harbour.  The beaches are huge and even when busy will never feel crowded.
